Dear friends,

 

I am excited to announce that I will be seeking re-election to serve you as your Bee County Sheriff.
 
It has been my honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Bee County, Texas for the past 31 years as a law enforcement official under two law enforcement agencies. The past eight years as your Sheriff have been the most rewarding years of my career. I humbly request your support and your vote in the May runoff election as I seek to continue serving you and Bee County.

 

After you review our record as your sheriff and consider the record of others, I am confident you will see that I am the most qualified to lead law enforcement efforts in Bee County.
 
It is and has always been my goal to ensure that we in Bee County are on the leading edge of law enforcement and county corrections issues, trends, and technology. As a member of the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas, the Texas Jail Association, and a former President of the Coastal Bend Peace Officers Association, I aim to advance our leadership and professionalism with the valuable training, collaboration, and critical resources these organizations provide.
 
I am passionate about strengthening our relationship with the public and creating an environment for true community policing and involvement. Information is critical in solving any problem and a partnership with the public is key.

 

The Bee County Sheriff’s Office has launched several programs that encourage interaction with the public, including:

 

• Our annual Easter celebration and Halloween “Trunk or Treat” event.

• We also hold our annual “Shop with a Sheriff” event which helps less fortunate children in our community and spreads a little more joy through the Christmas season. 

• Our Deputies are a presence in our schools throughout the year presenting programs on a myriad of subjects to include bullying and dangers of social media. 

 

No matter the size or theme of the event; every connection made with a member of our community is valuable!
 
One program we are particularly proud of is our Bee County Junior Deputy Academy! For six successful years we have been teaching kids age 10 to 14 about law enforcement, citizenship, and serving as productive members of the community.  The motto for the Junior Deputy Academy reflects my philosophy, “Making the world a better place, one day at a time”.
 
My prayer is that through our community bonds and partnership, we can overcome serious issues that our citizens may be facing. One pressing issue is our battle with drugs in our community, specifically methamphetamine. We have taken steps to increase drug interdiction and  we are members of the Crossroads HIDTA taskforce.  Grant resources have assisted us greatly in increasing our drug interdiction mission while keeping our operation expenses low.
 
I take great pride in the successful working relationships we have with the agencies in our surrounding counties and the Beeville Police Department. I thank you for your partnership!
 
I hope you will join me in continuing to keep Bee County safe and support my re-election effort.
